JAZZ THEME RECORDINGS

From mid-2025, video recordings of Jazz Theme #1a will be accessible online — along with an alternate interpretation, Jazz Theme #1b. The first version is composed and played by Daniel Turner on a fretted, 6-string Ibanez bass guitar (as shown in the video). The second version is played on an almost identical instrument, except that the guitar is fretless — and the audio enhancements are more “experimental” and less percussive.

Notation of this original, bi-directional jazz theme is written in tablature format and is downloadable as a PDF file. It defines the melodic lines, harmonies, percussive and other musical inflections within a piece of music that is progression-free as well as rhythmically free-form — and therefore open to broad interpretation within its extended “B Blues + F” scale by any musician playing any instrument, including the bass guitar.
